Vidor – Partenza Cammino T1

The starting point of the Route, in the vicinity of which stands the historic Abbey of Santa Bona, dating back to 1106. A document reports that Giovanni da Vidor donated the chapel of Santa Maria and other goods to the Benedictine abbey of Pomposa. Giovanni Gravone da Vidor had the chapel built to house the relics of St Bona that he had brought back from the Holy Land during the First Crusade. Suppressed in 1773 by the Serenissima, it suffered severe damage during the Great War, but was later rebuilt. To the primitive core of the abbey complex belong the church, bell tower and cloister with a typically Romanesque layout.
