Santa Maria Abbey: begun in 1200, the abbey is the spiritual heart of Follina. Its unique atmosphere is due to the combination of deep mysticism, enveloping charm and centuries-old architecture. The construction of the splendid cloister, predating the basilica, was completed in 1268, when the Cistercian monks settled in the monastery where they perfected wool processing. The very name of the town Follina is said to derive from one of the wool processing procedures, fulling.
